Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA)
The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (the CPSIA) was enacted into law on August 14 2008.
Under the CPSIA a general conformity certificate will be required for
certain consumer products and must be furnished to each retailer or
distributor of those products.
Section 102 of the CPSIA requires among other things a general
certificate of conformity be issued by the manufacturer of products that
are (a) manufactured on or after November 12 2008 and (b) subject to a
consumer product safety rule under the Consumer Product Safety
Improvement Act or similar rule ban standard or regulation under any
other act enforced by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. A copy of
the regulations and other information regarding the general conformity
certificate requirements are available on the Consumer Product Safety
Commissions website located at
http//:www.cpsc.gov.
